Quick answer. Put two specifications on every line of a disposables enquiry, because the listing states neither: the French gauge for anything tubular, and the material for gloves. The HD series covers catheters, feeding and suction tubes, infusion and blood administration sets, a syringe, gloves, protective wear and sharps disposal devices. A catheter of the wrong gauge is unusable rather than merely inconvenient, and the glove material, latex, nitrile or vinyl, decides fit, barrier and allergy risk. These are regulated medical devices, so verify each item's registration with your own regulator before importing.
Ray Export lists single-use hospital items in the HD series, HD-0001 to HD-0035 across three pages: catheters and feeding, stomach and suction tubes, infusion and blood administration sets, gloves and personal protective items, and sharps disposal devices. Two specifications govern most of this range and the listing states neither, so put both on every enquiry: the French gauge for anything tubular, and the glove material.
| Group | Codes | Items as listed |
|---|---|---|
| Catheters | HD-0002, HD-0006, HD-0009, HD-0010, HD-0014, HD-0016 | Suction catheter, urethral catheter, male external catheter, two-way Foley balloon catheter, nasal oxygen catheter, Gibbon catheter |
| Feeding and drainage tubes | HD-0003, HD-0005, HD-0015, HD-0018 | Ryle tube, infant feeding tube, stomach tube, Levin tube |
| Administration sets | HD-0001, HD-0004, HD-0013 | Moulded blood administration set, scalp vein set, infusion set |
| Collection and neonatal | HD-0008, HD-0011, HD-0012 | Urine collection bag, umbilical cord clamp, infant mucus extractor |
| Syringes | HD-0017 | Disposable syringe |
| Gloves | HD-0021, HD-0022, HD-0035 | Plastic examination gloves, latex surgical gloves, disposable gloves pack |
| Protective wear | HD-0025, HD-0026, HD-0029, HD-0034 | Non-woven shoe cover, PE shoe cover, PE disposable apron, disposable head covers |
| Sharps disposal | HD-0031 to HD-0033 | Syringe and needle destroyer, stainless steel needle cutter, plastic needle cutter |
The sequence is not continuous: HD-0007, HD-0023, HD-0024, HD-0027, HD-0028 and HD-0030 do not appear. Two items in the listing, a dynamic triaxial apparatus (HD-0019) and a soil analyzer (HD-0020), are geotechnical testing instruments and belong with the soil and civil testing ranges rather than here.
Catheters and tubes are sized in French gauge, where the number is three times the outer diameter in millimetres, so a 12 Fr catheter is 4 mm across. The gauge is the specification, and a catheter of the wrong gauge is unusable rather than merely inconvenient. Give the gauges and the quantity per gauge, and add the following where it applies:
| Item | Also specify |
|---|---|
| Foley balloon catheter (HD-0010) | Balloon volume, and confirm the number of ways. HD-0010 is listed as two-way; a three-way catheter is needed for continuous irrigation and is a different item. Ask also whether the material is latex or silicone, because that governs how long it may remain in place. |
| Ryle, Levin and stomach tubes (HD-0003, HD-0015, HD-0018) | Length as well as gauge, the tip configuration and the number of eyes, and whether the tube is radio-opaque with a marked line. |
| Suction catheter (HD-0002) | Whether a thumb-control vent is fitted, and the tip type. |
| Infant feeding tube (HD-0005) | Gauge and length for the age group, and whether the connector matches your syringes. Enteral and intravenous connectors should not be interchangeable. |
| Infusion and blood administration sets (HD-0001, HD-0013) | Drop factor, filter presence and pore size, whether the chamber is vented, and the injection site type. A blood administration set needs a filter that an ordinary infusion set does not have. |
| Disposable syringe (HD-0017) | Volumes, whether two-part or three-part, needle gauge and length, and whether the needle is attached or separate. |
| Urine collection bag (HD-0008) | Capacity, whether it has an outlet tap, a non-return valve and a hanger. |
| Material | Where it fits, and the caution |
|---|---|
| Latex | Best fit and tactile sensitivity, which is why it persists for surgery. But latex proteins cause allergic reactions in a minority of patients and staff, and sensitisation builds with exposure. Many hospitals now operate a latex-free policy. HD-0022 is listed as latex, and one blood administration set variant is listed with a latex bulb. |
| Nitrile | Latex-free, more puncture-resistant than latex, and the usual default for examination gloves where a latex-free policy applies. Ask whether a nitrile option is available against the examination glove codes. |
| Vinyl or plastic | Cheapest and adequate for low-risk, short tasks. Less durable and a poorer barrier under stress, so not the choice for procedures. |
Two further points on any glove order. First, state powder-free unless you have a specific reason not to: powdered surgical and examination gloves have been withdrawn or banned in several major markets, so a powdered glove may not be importable. Second, give the sizes and the split between them, and ask for the AQL and the standard the batch is tested to.
Further consumables are under Medical Supplies and Medical Lab Equipments, which also carries rubber goods and infusion sets. Gowns, caps and staff clothing are under Hospital Wears; neonatal equipment under Infant Care; instruments under Surgical Lab Equipments; and sterilisers under Autoclaves and Sterilizers. Parent range: Medical Apparatus.
Send a line list giving the code, the French gauge or size, the quantity per size and the pack, and for gloves the material, powder status and size split. For example Folley Balloon Catheter Two-Way (HD-0010) at stated gauges and balloon volumes, in silicone. Ask for the sterility and registration documentation with the quotation. Contact Ray Export for prices and shipping terms.
In French gauge, where the number is three times the outer diameter in millimetres, so a 12 Fr catheter is 4 mm across. Give the gauges you need and the quantity per gauge. For the Ryle, Levin and stomach tubes, HD-0003, HD-0015 and HD-0018, add the length, the tip configuration, the number of eyes and whether the tube is radio-opaque with a marked line. For the suction catheter, HD-0002, say whether a thumb-control vent is needed and which tip type.
The gauge, the balloon volume and the number of ways. HD-0010 is listed as two-way; the page points out that a three-way catheter is needed for continuous irrigation and is a different item, so do not assume one can stand in for the other. Ask whether the material is latex or silicone, because that governs how long it may remain in place, and check your latex policy. The request-a-quote example on this page asks for stated gauges and balloon volumes, in silicone.
The page treats material as the decision. Latex gives the best fit and tactile sensitivity, which is why it persists for surgery, but latex proteins cause allergic reactions in a minority of patients and staff, and many hospitals now run a latex-free policy; HD-0022 is listed as latex. Nitrile is latex-free, more puncture-resistant, and the usual default for examination gloves under such a policy, so ask whether a nitrile option exists against the examination glove codes. Vinyl suits low-risk, short tasks, not procedures.
State powder-free unless you have a specific reason not to. The page notes that powdered surgical and examination gloves have been withdrawn or banned in several major markets, so a powdered glove may not be importable where you are. On any glove order, also give the sizes and the split between them, and ask for the acceptable quality level and the standard the batch is tested to, then check that against what your own purchasing rules or regulator require.
For the infusion and blood administration sets, HD-0001 and HD-0013, give the drop factor, whether a filter is fitted and its pore size, whether the chamber is vented, and the injection site type; a blood administration set needs a filter that an ordinary infusion set does not have. For the syringe, HD-0017, give the volumes, two-part or three-part, needle gauge and length, and attached or separate needle. For the infant feeding tube, HD-0005, check the connector matches your syringes.
Confirm both for every item. For anything invasive, ask whether it is supplied sterile, by which method, the shelf life from manufacture, and whether a certificate of conformity accompanies each lot, and specify the remaining shelf life you need at despatch. These items are single use, so confirm that on the label and do not plan to reprocess them. They are regulated medical devices: ask what registration each holds, contact us for the latest copies of the relevant certificates, and verify with your own regulator before importing.
